NOD13 – Falling Apart

Notes of Destiny 13
(Falling Apart)

On the way back to Russpine’s house,
The forest turned to gray.
The sun was blocked from overhead,
And it turned to a very grim day.
Russpine continued to explain things,
As they moved at a healthy pace.

Russpine: “You see, Saol Nua’s Day,
Is a birthing day of life,
But there’s been so much death in this forest,
So much trouble, and so much strife,
That the forest is turning in on itself,
And helping these pirates destroy
All the living that goes on here,
All of its simple joy.”

Just then, a guttural sound resonated,
From beings on their every side.

Russpine: “Case in point, The Wolves are hungry.
Be calm! Do not try to hide.”
Windy and Fort looked around,
But could not see their stalkers.
The sound continued and fluctuated,
But this was no shocker.
Fort knew the wolves were swirling ’round,
Looking for the best attack angle.
And judging by the sound of their husky growls,
They were big enough to mangle.

Russpine: “Do not panic! Stand up straight!
And sing of protection after me!”

Then Russpine sung a melody,
Which made the wolves whine and flee.

Russpine: “Stand Hearty Forest Dwellers!”

The two: “Stand Hearty Forest Dwellers!”

Russpine: “The wolves here live but do not see.”

The two: “The wolves here live but do not see.”

Russpine: “Sing Out o Forest Dwellers!”

The two: “Sing Out o Forest Dwellers!”

Russpine: “The great songwriter holds that key!”

The two: “The great songwriter holds that key!”

It took a few minutes for the wolves to disperse,
As the three sang the melody.
Then Fort, knowing his theory,
Sang out in Harmony.
The wolves scampered off, barking and whining
And Russpine congratulated the two.

Russpine: “You both have excellent sense of pitch.
Come, let me fix you a stew!
The Elder trees will be interested,
In hearing both your tales!
And perhaps you will be the extra push,
So that we will not fail!”

They were less than 100 yards away,
From Russpine’s simple home.
But little did they know what they’d find when they got there.
Russpine let out a moan…
