NOD29 – Out of the fire, Into the Nest
Notes of Destiny 29
(Out of the fire, Into the Nest)
Fort and Windy sat back in the brig,
Alone, dejected, and hurt.
Bleeding welts and wounds on their backs,
Underneath their shirts.
They’d been whipped for trying to escape.
Tragic wasn’t playing anymore.
And they knew that this was just the beginning.
Of bad things, there was more in store.
The churning of the waves didn’t help either,
As they sat in that storm.
They stared out their tiny windows at land,
And tried their best to keep warm.
The gale kept the pirates from attempting to dock,
Until fair weather appeared.
And by the look of it, they’d have to wait another day,
To be anymore near.
Fort had been quiet since they were caught.
He seemed to be stewing inside.
Not in an angry, resentful sense.
He simply had no more pride.
But soon the hold on his tongue let loose,
And he these words to Windy he spoke,
Fort: “I’m sorry for dragging you into this mess.
I’m sorry everything is broke.
I should have worked harder to protect you.
And I should have tried harder in the end.”
His voice trailed off with a whimpering crack,
Then Windy spoke to her friend.
Windy: “Fort, we WILL return to Ka’Lanner!
We will return you there!
We aren’t sure how at this moment,
But never cease your care!
And even if we’re slaves, or we die,
Or our life from us they rend,
I have no regrets from this adventure,
My wonderful Prince, and friend.”
Just then, the rain very suddenly let up,
And they heard the ragged tones,
Of a single Pirate up on deck,
Beginning a song with a moan.
Pirate: “Yo ho! And home we go!
The Nest’s arms let us in.
They ain’t like arms of a mama bird,
They’re arms that’s full of sin.
The Nest will sooner gut you
If you ain’t a scurvy dog,
Than let you live a normal life,
So come on and drink some grog!
There’s no escape there’s no escape
From The Pirates Nest!”
