NOD26 – Tragic’s Magic
Notes of Destiny 26
(Tragic’s Magic)
All around the ship,
Tragic made his rounds,
Making sure all of his mates,
Were busy and progress-bound.
Windy was right by his side,
As Tragic preferred her to be,
And as they walked together,
A sight came up to see.
A crew member in a blue shirt,
Began to shake and convulse,
He threw himself upon the deck,
And sadness was the crew’s impulse.
Tragic approached the thrashing man,
As the man’s mouth began to foam,
Another pirate approached Windy,
So she would not be left alone.
The pirate spoke to Windy,
And took off his hat in respect.
Pirate: “That boy right there is Willy,
And he’s been sick I suspect.”
Tragic circled ‘round Willy,
And Tragic’s hands began to glow.
The Pirate with Windy shook his head.
Pirate: “I wish they’d just let ‘im go.”
Windy: “What is he doing? What’s going on?”
Pirate: “He’s trying to fix ‘im with magic.
But every time he uses it on Willy,
The results get more- well- tragic.
I wish e’d just give im some medicine,
Or play ‘im some sort of song.
Willy will be worse than dead,
Before very long.”
Windy then saw that the pirate with her,
Carried her whistleknife,
In a satchel around his waist,
Shining in plain sight.
She swiped her whistleknife silently,
And moved over to port-side.
She played a soothing song in the air,
And Willy’s convulsing began to subside.
All the ship stared at her,
And listened for a moment or two.
Willy lulled into a peaceful sleep,
Windy’s song had carried him through.
His breathing slowed and steadied-
His skin, it looked more bright.
And he looked as though his lips would smile.
Maybe… Maybe they might.
The magic in the song she played,
Did a loving trick,
One that could never be accomplished,
By Tragic’s silent magic.
Tragic crossed the deck to her,
And silently held out his hand.
Windy put the whistleknife in it,
Her eyes gleaming something grand.
Tragic met her eyes with a glare,
And gave his flagon a swig.
Tragic: “You just signed your warrant, Windy.
You’re going to the brig.”
